I love doing in-home photo sessions with my clients. This is one of my favourite places to photograph families; homes are rich with stories, memories, and make for beautiful backdrops no matter what size the house may be. Living in a small downtown home myself, I have grown fond of little spaces. They are cozy and intimate places, where family is in close contact every day (for better or for worse!). Sometimes my clients worry about how messy their home is, but that is never a problem. We will pick out a few special places in the home and perhaps tidy a little bit in those areas, and the magic of camera angles will take care of the rest. But I digress, I am just so happy when I get to photograph families in their own home. It's my favourite thing.
Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph the Shivji Family with their sweet new arrival, Armaan. It was love at first sight! I couldn't get over his tiny fingers and toes, those chubby cheeks, and that head full of hair! Thank you to the Shivji Family for inviting me into your home to document these precious moments for you. I am so grateful.
It just so happened that the first snowfall of the year coincided with one of my clients' recent photo sessions! The season from fall to winter changes rapidly up here in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and we wanted to get outside in cozy sweaters before the deep freeze. Secretly we were wishing for snow, but weren't going to get our hopes up. We decided to celebrate with hot chocolate, eating snowflakes, and building a miniature snowman. What a fun afternoon with the Jackson Family.
Thank you for inviting me out to photograph your beautiful family. xo
I was happy to spend a gorgeous and chilly fall evening photographing a very sweet couple in Yellowknife; two beautiful souls so much in love.
It was a pleasure meeting them both and I wish them all the best with the expected arrival of their new baby in the coming weeks. So exciting!
