I had a wonderful and busy weekend in the studio, which included photographing products for a new small business in Yellowknife called Snowfly. Cheryl, the owner of Snowfly, handcrafts seal wrist cuffs and headbands in a variety of beautiful colours (with plans to diversify her product line in the future). In studio, the biggest challenge was to light the fur at an angle that illuminated the beautiful textures and made all the subtle details pop out of the image. I love the final results.
One feature of the wrist cuffs that I find particularly neat is that they work as snap bracelets. Check out the images below to see the wrist cuffs while straight or "unsnapped", and then when "snapped" into a bracelet. I received one for my birthday recently and I love the softness and the artistic use of this treasured material in Northern Canada. I might now be adding one of the headbands to my own Christmas wish list this year. :)
Cheryl is currently working on her website for Snowfly which should be completed soon. I will send out an update with her website and contact information once it is up and running. If you would like to inquire about/order her products before then, send me a message and I will get you in touch with her. As each individual product takes time to create and is handcrafted with care, it is best to place your order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. This would make a perfect gift for someone this upcoming holiday season!
